THERE were delays on the A27 tonight.
A line of cars formed on the A27 at Falmer Hill this afternoon following a vehicle fire.
The delays proved an unusual experience for road-users with the Government's social distancing guidelines, which urge people to stay at home whenever possible to prevent the spread of coronavirus, leaving roads across Sussex largely empty this past month.
An AA spokesman said: "One lane is closed due to an earlier car fire and fuel spillage on the A27 Falmer Hill eastbound between Coldean Lane (Hollingbury/Ditchling junction) and the B2123 The Drove (Falmer/Rottingdean Junction). Traffic is coping well.
"The road was blocked initially. The car fire has been extinguished."
