I am writing to say how appalled I am at the casual and indiscriminate use of foul language by both youngsters and adults these days.
Whether it is in the pub, in shops or on the streets of Brighton and Hove, barely five minutes goes past without you hearing vocabulary that frankly makes me feel ashamed and disgusted.
I think TV and cinema have a great deal to answer for in this regard. There seems to be an ever greater acceptance that gratuitous swearing is a normal and perfectly tolerable part of the entertainment business. I find this a very sad and worrying state of affairs.
I would like to see the guidelines tightened up considerably.
In the meantime, I would ask people to show a little consideration before swearing in public - not everyone is prepared to tolerate such behaviour.
