If Gatwick bosses are truly interested in more airline passengers using trains to the airport (The Argus, January 28), then they should campaign to redirect their underutilised Gatwick Express to serve Brighton and Hove via West Brompton.
This station is a Transport for London overground station which also has mainline trains to the whole of London Underground. It which would be much easier for airline passengers with luggage to use than the congested Victoria station which is presently being refurbished.
Sadly, this service has had little promotion and has not been used to its full potential.
It will be a great loss to the rail network linking Southern region and Midland region railways (while avoiding London) if it is closed at the end of this year.
