This gig marked the first night of what will be two years of constant touring for the band affectionately known to their fans as "Bullet".
Their entrance couldn't have been better either, with their shadows looming large on a veil which then dropped, leaving the band to drop their bombshell of hard thrash metal and tearaway riffs.
In places, they sounded almost classic; thundering kick drum work nodded towards the likes of Pantera while Matthew Tuck's lead vocal and some textbook chain-gun guitar playing veered close to Iron Maiden territory.
Some of their newer material helped to vary the set-list by carrying much more melodic content, most notably Deliver Us From Evil, written about the band's struggle with illness during 2006.
The flow of the gig was impeded, though, by the band changing guitars every other song, allowing people to talk among themselves. Still, not bad for day one.
