A pedestrian was in a critical condition in hospital today after being hit by a car.
The man had been walking in Haslett Avenue East in Crawley at 5.40pm on Friday (Friday, February 1) when he was knocked down.
He broke his collar bone as he fell and suffered severe head injuries. He was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill by ambulance.
Hospital staff said today (Saturday, February 2) the man was in a critical but stable condition.
Sussex Police said the driver of the car was uninjured. He was spoken to by officers at the scene.
A section of the road was closed for several hours after the collision.
