You state on your front page (The Argus, January 30) that BB guns fire ball bearings and can be lethal at close range.
This is complete rubbish as the toys you are talking about fire 6mm plastic balls known as bullet balls (BBs) and are known as airsoft guns.
They do not have the power to fire metal ball bearings and are legally classed as toys not airguns.
While they are irritating and could cause damage to somebody's eyes, no way can they be considered lethal in any way shape or form.
Neither can they be converted to fire live ammunition.
That said, anybody carrying one in public is committing an offence and deserves to be punished.
