Detectives have renewed their public appeal for information over the disappearance of a TV make-up artist after releasing her husband on bail.

Diane Chenery-Wickens, 48, who has worked on shows including Dead Ringers, The League Of Gentlemen and Casualty, was reported missing by her husband David, 51, on January 24.

He was freed on police bail pending further inquiries on Sunday night after being arrested by detectives on suspicion of her murder last Thursday.

Sussex Police said that Mrs Chenery-Wickens, from Duddleswell, near Uckfield, has not been identified on any of the CCTV footage examined by officers.

She was said to have travelled with her husband on January 24 by train from East Grinstead, West Sussex, to London to attend a business meeting at the BBC.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Johns said that they believe she did not attend that meeting. He appealed to anyone who had spoken to her in the week she went missing to come forward.

Mr Johns said: "The last friend to contact Diane, according to the information we have received, is a female friend who spoke with her on the phone between 5pm and 6pm on January 22.

"Diane was reported missing two days later. We have collected and viewed CCTV in an effort to retrace her steps. At the moment, we have not been able to identify Diane on any of the CCTV footage we have viewed so far, and as far as we are aware, she did not attend a meeting at the BBC on January 24."

After Mrs Chenery-Wickens and her husband were said to have arrived in London, police were told that they parted in the Shepherds Bush area with an agreement to meet up again later at a hairdresser's salon, where she had an appointment.

But Mrs Chenery-Wickens failed to turn up for the appointment and she has not been seen or heard from since.
