A barmaid is hoping to serve up a million dollars with her first web venture - or at least move out of her parents' home.

Gina West, 25, of Hangleton Road, Hangleton, launched her own internet village last week.

She hopes Adsquare will follow in the footsteps of Alex Tew's Million Dollar Homepage as a portal through which businesses can advertise their own websites.

For as little as £25, companies can assure themselves a slice of prime real estate in her new advertising kingdom, where every window is a hoarding waiting to be seen.

Gina, who works as a barmaid at the Conservative Club in Blatchington Road, Hove, said: "Just the idea of having a site dedicated to advertising inspired me. I just wanted to make it as different as possible.

"I taught myself web design and a lot of work has gone into it.

"But people need a reason to visit the site so I've added features such as blogs and forums to generate traffic.

"A Bloggers Hall Of Fame will allow users to download photos and link to their homepages."

The site's development is similar to milliondollarhome page.com, which has netted its owner, 21-year-old Mr Tew, from Wiltshire, more than a million dollars in less than six months.

It sold pixels - the dots which make up a computer screen - as advertising space, charging one dollar per dot. It quickly caught the imagination of the American and British public.

By the time every pixel was bought, firms such as Orange and The Times had added their logos. Its success spawned a host of similar schemes but Gina insists her site is not another copy. She said: "I wanted to create something a bit more fun."

Launched last week, the site is already attracting advertisers.

Cherry Cake Events, an event management company based in Folkstone, was the site's first subscriber.

Gina said: "I'd like it to be successful but mainly I want it to showcase my work. Hopefully I'll make enough money to move out of my parents' home."
