I read with interest that Councillor Tex Pemberton said that he was distressed that some coach companies failed the maintenance test (The Argus, January 30). Well, it's hardly surprising when you see the state of some of them.
I hope he keeps his word and doesn't renew the contracts with these coach companies and reads the riot act to them, to give parents the confidence to keep putting their children on these vehicles.
Those companies that were found with defects should have a complete fleet inspection.

Graham Hawkins of Village Coaches said the council and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency were being petty over a couple of defects found on the company's coach.
These coaches are carrying schoolchildren and their lives are at risk. Coun Pemberton is 100 per cent right if he does what he says and sticks to his guns.
We agree with The Argus - name and shame these companies.
