There was definitely a darkly melodic feel to the programme, beginning with Copland's powerful and haunting Fanfare For The Common Man before moving on to Strauss's Death And Transfiguration and finally Brahms's magnificent A German Requiem.
While the orchestra, soprano Elizabeth Cragg and baritone Richard Morris were all excellent, it was Boundstone Community College Choir who stole the show. A superbly professional effort beyond their years.
It was the last appearance for Worthing Philharmonic's music director and principal conductor Robin Page.
He didn't conduct on this occasion but received the applause deserving of almost a decade's hard work. Overall, this was a night of melodrama, melancholy and great spirituality.
