PEOPLE used to promenade on Hove Lawns so much during the Edwardian era the grass would be crowded.
Here they are in this undated postcard from the collection of Brighton resident Terry Sinnott.
Although everyone is well dressed, many strollers are also protecting themselves from the rays of the sun, In the background can be seen the West Pier before the central pavilion was added a few years later.
Most people prefer walking on the seafront rather than the Lawns these days as the grass is kept long to discourage football.
