The rug may have been metaphorical, but the experience of seeing three great stand-ups kick back was just as warm as the title suggested.

Sitting On A Rug is a monthly residency storytelling night organised by stand-up Terry Saunders.

The first night began with a short smattering of stand-up from Terry and guests Steve Hall and James Dowdeswell to ease the small crowd in before the trio settled down to pass mics around and tell tales.

The stories ranged from a Cadbury's Creme Egg obsession on a cross-country bus to memories of playing Jongleurs, with each story sparking new tales from the others.

The only criticism was that it ran a little too long, but that was because the three were enjoying themselves - even doing a live link-up with the telephone train timetable to see how long they could last.

This is a night that will only get better as time goes on.
