I believe strongly that the authorities at St Peter's Church are right to oppose the erection of the speigeltent on the grassed area adjacent to the church, even though the land does not belong to the Church but to Brighton and Hove City Council.

I would like to add that I am a worshipping member of St Peter's.

I wonder how many of those who declared themselves to be in favour of the erection of this tent are members of St Peter's? How many of them know that before the tent could be erected a number of trees will have to be "moved", that is, dug up and replanted elsewhere?

Will the grass be restored after the tent has gone, and who will bear the cost of replacing trees that die as a result of being moved? Are people aware that striptease performances will be taking place in the tent? What about the likely noise levels that will result? This noise will impact not just on the church but much more on people living in the vicinity. What do these residents think, and how many of them are in favour?

Answers to these and other questions are very much needed.
