A freewheeling DJ is aiming to entertain the masses - by playing at 24 venues in 12 hours.

Dan Warburton will dash through the streets of Brighton, stopping to play a short, speedy set at each bar or club along the route.

To add to the challenge, he plans to travel by electric scooter, carrying 40 records, 120 CDs and some headphones in a backpack.

Dan, who plays under the moniker DJ Dan Warb, hopes his musical odyssey will put the fun back into clubbing.

He said: "Everybody is so serious these days. DJs are always trying to compete with each other. Everyone has forgotten that it's all about having a good time."

The 30-year-old will play for 15 minutes in each venue, giving him another 15 minutes to pack up and get to the next one.

He said: "It's going to be really hectic. I'm going to have to burst through the doors, remember where the turntables are, then get through the crowd with all my stuff without knocking everyone's drinks flying out of their hands.

"Hopefully I'll just have to remind the DJ what I'm doing, not have to explain the whole story. All the while I'll be trying to work out what to play.

"Then after ten or 15 minutes I'll have to leg it back out again.

"The last club shuts at around 6am but if I can't find anywhere to play earlier on in the evening I may even have to fit everything in within ten hours, which would be absolutely crazy. "

Though he normally travels to gigs by taxi, he hopes to borrow a scooter for the evening to make his mission more environmentally friendly.

Atmosphere He plans to set off from his home near Seven Dials, Brighton, to the first venue in Hove at about 6pm. He will gradually head eastwards before reaching the final stop somewhere on Brighton seafront, where he plans to "black out on the beach as the sun rises".

His mini-sets will have an "electro retro" feel, tailored to the atmosphere of each venue.

The DJ already has slots lined up at the Sky Bar in Meeting House Lane, Riki Tik in Bond Street, the Water Margin in Middle Street and the Black Lion pub in Black Lion Street, where he has a monthly residency. The event will take place on Saturday May 10 or May 17, depending on the availability of slots.
