Artists are to transform a disused seaside paddling pool into the setting for a series of spectacular free performances.
A séance and a dance piece recreating travel on the Underground are among four outdoor spectacles to be staged in the old pool near the West Pier, Brighton, on May 18.
Meanwhile Brighton-based company Prodigal Theatre will transform New Road into an "urban playground", with a performance combining free-running, break-dancing and contemporary dance on May 12.
The latest additions to the Brighton Festival programme have all been commissioned by Without Walls, a consortium of seven street arts and outdoor performance festivals.
Actress and director Paschale Straiton is producing a theatrical installation in a fortune teller's tent, called The Séance.
Passers by will be invited to step inside the tent, which will be decorated like a Victorian parlour, with ticking clocks, ornate wallpaper and an aspidistra.
Performers from Wired Aerial Theatre are currently in Argentina learning to tango for their piece, which will see dancers propelled through the air with bungee ropes.
Acrojou will defy gravity inside a man-sized gymnastics wheel.
For their piece Underground, dancers from Motionhouse Dance Theatre will perform inside a transparent tube with sliding doors, which has been specially-built to resemble a London Underground train.
A promenade performance called The Bell will also take place as part of Without Walls.
Featuring fireworks, elaborate props and actors, it will be held in Wild Park, Moulsecoomb.
All events will be free to see, but there will be an informal ticketing system for The Séance on the day.
