A masked robber threatened a shop assistant with a knife and grabbed £200 from a till.

The robber walked into Mulberry Wines in Dominion Road, Worthing, holding a kitchen knife and told the female shop assistant to hand over cash.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: "I was sitting in the back room and I saw a very young bloke wearing a big puffa jacket with a hood pass by.

"Then 20 seconds later he walked in wearing a mask and holding a knife in his left hand.

"He was fiddling with something small in his right hand which could have been a spray.

"I was in shock for the first few seconds. He wasn't very rude or rough, he just ushered me to the till." She warned him the shop was covered by CCTV, but he was undeterred.

She said: "My boss told me if this ever happened I should just give them the money.

"I was panicking and couldn't remember the password for the till.

"He was pointing the knife at me and said I'm not f****** around, open the till."

The man grabbed a handful of cash and a packet of 20 Sovereign cigarettes, and mumbled "thank you" at the shop assistant before he walked out. The shop assistant said: "I am all right now but I'm just scared in case he comes back."

Police are now analysing CCTV footage of the robbery, which took place at 7.15pm on Sunday.

The man wore a black jacket, a woollen mask and jeans.

He was around 6ft 1ins tall, had blue eyes and was in his mid to late teens.

The incident follows a similar robbery in Worthing last Tuesday.
