Kali and Todd are the sort of couple people love to hate.

They are young, they are beautiful, they have a dream home they did up themselves and they have booked a holiday in Stockholm, Sweden, flying Finn Air.

When they met it was love at first sight and since then they have barely been out of each other's gaze - walking around like Siamese twins.

But when their front door closes on the outside world we discover they are locked into an ongoing cyclical pattern of paranoia, jealousy and violence.

Combining great physical movements, imaginative sets and some brilliantly-realised surreal effects, this is a stunning and powerful show, which builds to a memorable climax.

The whole play revolves around the idea of the Stockholm Syndrome, a recognised psychological condition where a captor and their captive become so attracted to each other that they don't want to break their relationship off.

The two performers Georgina Lamb and Samuel James both play rather unsympathetic characters, whose whole attention is focused on each other, meaning the audience are left in the cold in a similar way to the friends and family constantly trying to get hold of the pair on the phone.

They are constantly reassuring each other of their love, looking over their shoulder to see where the other partner has gone and overanalysing every aspect of their interaction with each other.

The dances and physical movement that, at the start, underline their closeness and love then become more desperate and painful as the play moves on.

The pace of the 70-minute piece barely lets up, and is constantly throwing surprises. But it is not a piece for everyone, the language is strong and some of the imagery veers into the disturbing, especially in the climactic fight, when a kitchen with the latest mod-cons is turned into a cage fighting arena, littered with sharp knives and broken glass.

A brief reference to the future of their relationship feels a little tacked on and unnecessary, but otherwise it is hard to knock the intelligent and thought-provoking script.
