Debbie Knowles is correct to ask where are all the jobs that pay an average of £28,000 a year (Letters, May 6). She is also correct to say the pay for most jobs in the Brighton area is between £12,000 and £16,000.
It's probably easy for statisticians to take a few high-level graduate managerial jobs advertised that pay between £50,000 and £150,000 then divide them by the total figure.
