A community group is asking to take over tennis courts in the city and residents are being asked for their views.

Blakers Park's tennis courts in Cleveland Road, Brighton, could be taken over by a community interest company (CIC).

The CIC Blakers Park Tennis has put a proposal to Brighton and Hove City Council to manage and operate the two public courts at the park in the city.

Now, the council is asking residents to let them know how they feel about the proposals and has launched a public consultation.

The proposals are being put forward under a process called community asset transfer (CAT).

CAT allows sports clubs and community groups to manage facilities and generate investment for upgrading and maintenance.

Other player groups have taken over the running of tennis facilities in the city’s parks in recent years.

Under the proposals, tennis facilities in the city would continue to be available for public use.

The consultation opened yesterday and will remain for one month.
