A man who was attacked near a city park sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police were called to a report of an altercation in Kingsmere, near Preston Park in Brighton, at about 8pm on January 22.
A 35-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
Officers attended and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been bailed, pending further enquiries.
