John Armstrong’s letter in The Argus, headed “After 50 years I will not be voting in next election” expressed opinions that I agree with 100 per cent.

However I would ask John not to give up completely on our electoral system but, instead, continue to visit his local polling station and, just like me when I am faced with a list of names I couldn’t put a face to and wouldn’t know from Adam, simply put a line through the lot of them.

If enough people end up spoiling their votes perhaps the message will finally get through to politicians, both locally and nationally, that they need to pull up their socks, listen to what their constituents say and do something about it, instead of continually blaming everybody else when everything goes base over apex.
