A new nightclub and bar will officially open this weekend following a major refurbishment.

Angels Bar and Club in Worthing will welcome clubbers tonight following a complete transformation of the formerly derelict nightspot.

Omar Rafique and Hasan Demir took over the premises in High Street, which used to be home to Bar 10, in December and have completed a six-figure renovation.

The bar will host live music from local artists, as well as charity and community events and even a karaoke night on Wednesdays.

It will then amalgamate with the club, which also has a seated VIP area upstairs, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

There will be a myriad of themed nights - Thursdays will be student night, Friday will roll back the soundtrack to the 70s, 80s and 90s and Saturdays will see big names perform.

“We’re really pleased to be officially open and would love to see everyone who has enjoyed our warm-up nights join us for our big official launch party this weekend,” said events manager Tim Lord.

“These last weeks have been really good, we’ve hosted some great club nights on Thursdays running through to Saturday nights with a number of resident and guest DJs.

“We now have a really good programme in place and everything in the venue running well.”

The business duo wants the nightclub to be a “safe place” and have a raft of measures to help protect their customers.

Clubgoers will be provided with anti-spiking drink covers and staff will call taxis if customers become intoxicated, the cost of which will be covered by the club.

A series of preview events have taken place in the weeks leading up to the grand unveiling, which have shown the measures to be hugely popular.

“One thing that we’ve recognised is people need to feel safe and welcomed when they go out to clubs, bars, events,” said Mr Lord.

“This has always been key to everything we organise and we’ve had some really positive feedback on this already.

“We’ve had cards sent in after club nights saying thank you for making this a reality and not just an idea that gets talked about.

“We really are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and fun atmosphere in all we do.”

The venue will open tonight at 8pm with free entry until 11pm.

“It’s great to be here and have reached our official launch party,” said Mr Lord.

“Join us for a night of fun, celebration, entertainment and partying at Angel’s Bar and Club.

“We want to open the doors to this historic location for Worthing’s community and nightlife.”
