Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle 'told not to contact MP' he heckled

Lloyd Russell-Moyle shouted at fellow Labour MP Rosie Duffield during a heated debate about gender identity in the House of Commons last month.

Ms Duffield, MP for Canterbury, appeared on GB News on Sunday, where she revealed has had no contact from Labour leader Keir Starmer since being heckled by members of her own party in Westminster.

She said she had received a message from Mr Russell-Moyle but no apology following the heckling.

She claimed the Brighton Kemptown MP had messaged her saying he has been told not to contact her.

Speaking on the programme, Ms Duffield said: “All women have had abuse, we know harassment when we see it, especially women of my age group. We've had it all of our lives in different ways.

“And it just feels like it felt as though they were just trying to shut me up. And that is not a great look from Labour MPs.

“Lloyd messaged me saying that he'd been told not to message me and his life had been made really difficult. Since then, he had experienced lots of abuse and things but it certainly was not an apology.”

Ms Duffield went on to outline what she hoped the party leader would do in the future.

She said: “I’d like Keir Starmer to address women. I'd like him to meet more regularly with women's groups like Labour Women's Declaration, for example, who've signed a pledge saying they want an end to self ID and they want single sex spaces being protected. 

“ I think it would be a good idea to listen to them all. 

“I think because we're desperate to get into government and it's a very difficult issue. And I think, as I said, I think he's being advised by a lot of people based in London, a lot of people very active in the Labour Party.

“They do talk to the wider country, there are different points of view and I think it'd be a good idea to hear all of them.”

Mr Russel-Moyle has been approached for comment.
