A bride who ditched her new husband for a barman she met at her wedding has now been dumped herself.

Besotted Andrea McMillan, from Brighton, admitted it was a classic case of karma coming back to haunt her.

The 34-year-old met Miguel Jose in Cuba when he worked behind the bar in the hotel she and Carl, 30, had chosen for their £4,000 wedding.

Having admitting she thought about the barman throughout her wedding ceremony, Andrea refused to consummate the marriage and it was annulled soon after the couple returned to Britain.

But now the mother of two is heartbroken after discovering Jose has gone back to his wife - and was having an affair with another woman.

The couple had been due to wed in just three weeks at the same four-star hotel where Andrea married Carl and Jose worked as barman.

Andrea said: "Maybe it's karma. Payback because of the way I met Jose at my wedding to Carl.

"I'm devastated and embarrassed. I thought he was the one but now I feel like such a fool, like a Shirley Valentine."

Andrea went ahead with her wedding to Carl despite knowing it was not what she wanted.

Just weeks later the loved-up blonde flew back to Cuban capital Havana to be reunited with Jose.

She said: "I told Carl I didn't want to marry him but he said it was pre-wedding nerves. I cried myself to sleep. I had to down a few pina coladas to go through with it."

Andrea admitted that as she was saying her wedding vows she was thinking of the barman she had met just days before.

She said: "The first time Jose and I met, it was like we had been hit by a thunderbolt.

He swept me off my feet. I refused to consummate our marriage because I knew when I looked at Carl on our wedding night he wasn't the one for me. All I could think of was Jose."

But love did not run smoothly and Andrea learned of Jose's betrayal in a call from a friend at the resort in Holguin where he works. She said: "I spent all night trying to get hold of him. He didn't even have the guts to tell me himself and I still haven't spoken to him. I suppose it's better I find out now though."

Painter Carl, from Grantham, Lincolnshire, who originally tried to persuade Andrea to stick with him, said: "It doesn't really bother me."
