Police have launched an investigation after a second body was found in a town this weekend.

Officers were called to an area near Evans Close, Maidenbower, Crawley, at around 1.30pm on Sunday after a body was discovered.

Sussex Police say the cause of death remains under investigation but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“The public can expect to see a police presence in the area in the meantime. Anyone with any concerns can speak to us,” said a spokesman for the force.

It was the second death reported in Crawley in fewer than three hours.

Officers were seen in Tilgate Way from roughly 11am on Sunday after reports a man’s body had been discovered in the street.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "On arrival, officers discovered the man was deceased. The cause of his death remains under investigation.

"There will be a police presence in the area while officers investigate the circumstances.

"We would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation while the investigation takes place.”
