A man has died after emergency services were called to an incident on Brighton beach.

Ambulance crews attended the scene of the incident on the seafront yesterday evening, with police officers erecting a gazebo on the shoreline near Shelter Hall.

A man was taken to hospital but police have confirmed that he has since passed away.

A Sussex Police officer said: “Emergency services were called to a medical incident at Brighton beach at about 5.45pm on Wednesday, September 13.

“A man was taken to hospital where he sadly later died.”

The seafront was cordoned off yesterday evening after police directed people away from a section of the beach.

A witness told The Argus that several vehicles from the South East Coast Ambulance Services were at the scene of the incident, along with around four police vehicles.

A police spokesman previously said that the man was “treated at the scene and was then taken to hospital”.
