Buses will once again run on Christmas day in a bid to keep families connected.

Over 3,000 passengers travelled across the city on Christmas Day last year as Brighton and Hove Buses operated services throughout the big day.

Routes 1, 1A, 5B, 7 and 49 were in operation on Christmas day in 2022 as part of a new effort to "help passengers get to work, visit loved ones and see friends" - and this year passengers will be able to travel to Peacehaven, Newhaven and Seaford over Christmas on the 12.

There will be a special timetable on Christmas Day and Boxing Day - and normal fares and passes are still accepted.

Nick Hill, commercial director at Brighton and Hove Buses said: “We are pleased to confirm that due to the 2022 Christmas Day services being so popular, we are running them again this year with the addition of a service on the Coaster 12 route.

“Keeping our local community connected all year round and making it easier for passengers to get to their place of work, attend church or visit their families on Christmas Day, is hugely important to us.”

On Sunday, December 24, a normal Sunday service will run but night routes such as the N1 will not operate.

The special Christmas Day timetable will start at around 8am and finish at around 7pm.

A special timetable for Boxing Day will also run on routes routes 1 and 1A, 2, 5, 5A and 5B, 6, 7, 12 and 12A, 13, 14 and 14A, 18, 22 and 22B, 25, 26, 27, 28, 48, 49, 50, 77, 78 and 79. Night buses will again not operate.

A normal Saturday service will run until New Year's Eve where extra night services on the N5, N12 and N14 will run.
