A new hair salon by a natural cosmetics company is opening in the city.

To celebrate the launch of the Lush Hair Lab in Trafalgar Street, Brighton, on Saturday morning the first 50 customers will receive a free goodie bag.

The salon is set to be a “first of its kind” and will not use any chemical hair dyes and will recycle 100 per cent of its waste.

Customers will be able to buy Lush hair products in the salon and will be able to try a range of treatments in its botanical washroom – described as a “spa for your hair and scalp”.

Ash Davies, salon manager at Lush Hair Lab in Brighton, said: “The Hair Lab is an oasis of tranquillity and I am so excited to be able to welcome you in. Every aspect of our salon ensures a one-of-a-kind, world-class experience but what truly sets us apart is the introduction of our unique botanical washroom.

“We believe in the magic of nature and the power of five-star customer experience, with a carefully curated range of botanical infusions and products to leave your hair looking and feeling its absolute best.

“From revitalising scalp massages to freshly made hair masks, your appointment is customised to your unique needs and preferences, ensuring that you leave with hair that is truly magnificent.”

In the wash room, customers will be surrounded by lush greenery and botanicals.

It is predicted that rubbish produced by the hairdressing sector in the UK could fill 50 football stadiums every year. Most of it – including aluminium foil, dye tubes and the majority of cut hair – is binned, even though foil can be recycled an infinite number of times.

Rather than sending it to landfill, waste from the Lush Hair Lab will be composted, recycled, recovered or used to generate energy for the national grid via the Green Salon Collective, which helps salons dispose of their waste sustainably.

Rather than using wasteful and damaging chemical hair dyes, the new salon will use henna, a natural, vegan hair dye.

  • Haircuts including “a full botanical wash room experience” start from £85
  • Hair colouring using Lush’s natural herbal dyes starts from £80
  • Open Tuesdays  to Saturdays from 10am to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am to 5pm, the Lush Hair Lab opens on Saturday, December 2, and the first 50 customers will receive a free goodie bag
