A children's playground has reopened after being damaged by recent strong winds.

The Kitty's Field playground in Dominion Road, Worthing, had been closed after Storm Isha damaged parts of the area including neighbouring fencing and concrete posts.

Worthing Borough Council has now installed a new fence to make the area safe again for children to use.

In an update, the council said: "Our popular playground at Kitty’s Field in Dominion Road is open again following works to replace the fencing.

"We sealed off the playground after strong winds damaged the neighbouring fencing and concrete posts, which meant the fence was leaning concerningly close to the play area.

"Wanting to put safety first, we temporarily closed the playground and have since installed an entirely new fence to ensure the area is safe and secure for children to play in again.

Weather warnings were in place across Sussex when Storm Isha hit on January 21.

Residents were advised to avoid the seafront and other areas that could be dangerous in strong winds.

Although some power cuts and damage were reported across the county, no one in Sussex was seriously injured in the storm.
