Works from acclaimed artists are on display at a city gallery this month.

Hidden Gallery, in the North Laine, Brighton, is shining a spotlight on its collection of original exhibition posters designed by some of the most influential artists from the last century.

Posters from Picasso, Matisse, Warhol and Banksy, including some dating back to 1945, can been viewed at the gallery in Kensington Gardens.

Gallery manager Juliet Dicker-Holton said: "Original artists' posters sit at the intersection between fine art, graphic design and pop culture.

"The 20th century's greatest artists poured their heart and soul into these posters, collaborating with leading print workshops to create something visually stunning that leapt out at the viewer from a crowded street.

"They were designed to look good and they still set the heart racing decades after they were made. Walking through our exhibition is like stepping into a time capsule of the most exciting moments in the history of modern art."

The display is an insight into the artists' commercial identity beyond the works people are typically familiar with.

The gallery said: "This exhibition is set against a backdrop of creativity and innovation in one of Britain’s cultural epicentres.

"Alongside the exhibition, Hidden will also be displaying pieces from its broader collection of signed works by artists such as Joan Miró, Invader, and more."

It runs until March 6 at the gallery and is open between 10am and 5pm Wednesday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
