A new hotel near the seafront will open in the summer.

The four-star Maldron Hotel Brighton will have 221 beds, gym facilities and free high-speed wifi.

Construction work on the £55 million development began in the autumn of 2022 on what used to be an exhibition space at the back of the Metropole Hotel.

The new hotel will retain some Grade II listed facades and also include a bar and dining facilities and an open courtyard.

The hotel is the brand’s first to open in the South of England.

Maldron Hotel said that its bedrooms will provide guests with “the perfect base to enjoy instant access to Brighton’s best attractions and businesses, thanks to the hotel’s outstanding seafront location and excellent transportation links”.

Each of the rooms feature air conditioning, Chromecast, a laptop safe, a hairdryer and en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers.

William Davies, director of the asset management team at Topland Group, which owns the site of the new development, said: “The new hotel will breathe new life into the Brighton seafront and provide a high-quality guest experience that will ultimately drive local growth.”

The hotel will open to guests on Monday, July 15, with a 20 per cent discount available to those booking as part of an “opening offer”.
