Piers Morgan was spotted over the weekend back in his Sussex hometown.

The controversial presenter, who grew up in the county, returned to celebrate his sister Charlotte's birthday.

In an Instagram post, Piers wrote: "Happy birthday to my lovely, loyal, and very talented sister Charlotte.

"Great dinner party, sis."

He tagged Newick, a village near Lewes and Uckfield, as the location in the post.

As well as many members of his family still living in the area, Piers continues to own a home in the village.

He returns to the area frequently, especially for family occasions and over the Christmas holidays.

He was last spotted in the area at his favourite pub The Royal Oak with a pint in hand last month.

He posted a picture on Instagram at the time and captioned it "cheers haters" after The Daily Mirror lost in a court case against Prince Harry over phone hacking allegations.

Piers was the editor of The Daily Mirror at the time this hacking was believed to have happened.

The broadcaster, who now hosts his own podcast, also shared how his mum Gabrielle O’Meara, 79, had a heart attack in November and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by ambulance.

Piers Morgan revealed that she was “terrified” and claimed his mother was in an A&E corridor for nearly seven hours.

He opened up about this in an interview with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak when debating the state of the NHS.

Although believed to spend most of his time in his London pad, the presenter is no stranger to Sussex and still treats it as home.
