A supermarket which is on the site of a former Woolworths store has closed suddenly.

Asian supermarket Yun Feng Foods, in Southwick Square, Southwick, shut last week.

The owners have said they are looking for a new location to move to.

They wrote on Facebook: "Unfortunately we will be closing our store in Southwick Square, however we are currently looking for a new location to move to.

"Feel free to pop into our other shop on London Road in Brighton.

"Sorry for any inconvenience. We will keep you updated."

The store, which has been at the former Woolworths branch for a number of years, sold a range of Asian food products.

Since the news of the closure, community members have shared their upset on social media.

One customer said: "This is terribly sad news, I'm so sorry about whatever circumstances have led to this, searching out exciting new recipes and coming to your store for the ingredients was a real highlight of my month. Please do open another large store."

The business, which opened in 2014 according to Companies House, has another store in London Road, Brighton.

The exact reason for the Southwick store closure has not been officially confirmed.
