Residents are being asked to help protect the “amazing” natural wildlife around the city.

Brighton and Hove City Council and East Sussex County Council are asking people to complete a survey about surrounding natural habitats including the South Downs and the coast.

The survey aims to restore nature and wildlife in Brighton and protect natural habitats in Sussex.

Councillor Tim Rowkins, chairman of the Brighton and Hove City Council environment committee, said: “We are part of an amazing landscape surrounded by coastal and rare downland habitats.

“We have an important part to play to connect actions for nature across Sussex.”

The council is asking residents to complete a survey to help create a Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Brighton and East Sussex.

The residents’ survey is open until the end of June and can be completed on the council website.
