A shopping centre is supporting two major community events this year.

The Beacon in Terminus Road, Eastbourne, is sponsoring Eastbourne Carnival and the Airbourne airshow.

The carnival, whose theme is Into The Wild, is on May 25.

It will start with a procession from Fisherman’s Green at 2pm which will parade through the town up to the Wish Tower slopes.

A street party will take place in Victoria Place from 4pm until 8pm.

A smaller procession through the town centre will start around 11.30am from the Enterprise Centre and will also proceed to Victoria Place.

The shopping centre will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the airshow by supporting the four-day event, which starts on August 15.

The Beacon's general manager Mark Powell said: “Eastbourne Carnival heralds the start of summer for me.

"We are delighted to be an event sponsor and will be there to cheer on the dancers and bands as they parade along the seafront.

“Airbourne is another brilliant event. We have seen it grow in stature over three decades and it is great to give it a bit of support as it celebrates its 30th birthday. The seafront really buzzes with excitement.”

He said both events provide a boost to the town by attracting new visitors.
