Timetable changes mean buses will run more frequently across the city.

Some of Brighton's most popular routes will see additional services as transport bosses hope to get more people on buses.

Brighton and Hove Buses has invested in new vehicles which are rolling out on some of the busiest routes as the older fleet is phased out.

Passengers on the 5, 7 and 49 routes will benefit from better reliability and more frequent services from Sunday.

The 5, 5A and 5B routes link Hangleton with Patcham and Hollingbury through the centre of Brighton.

From this Sunday, journeys will start earlier on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The diversions on some early and late services via Ellen Street will now also follow the normal route through Blatchington Road.

On the 7, between Hove and the marina, the service will run every six minutes between Monday and Saturday, and every eight on Sundays and public holidays. They currently run every seven minutes on weekdays.

Commercial director Nick Hill said: "We are extremely pleased to be improving services on these popular routes that each serve vital parts of our city of Brighton and Hove.

"We’re always monitoring our services and will always look to improve the reliability and frequency where it is needed most.”

Elsewhere in the city, the 49 between Moulsecoomb and Portslade Station will run every ten minutes during the daytime between Monday and Saturday.

Changes to routes N7, 23, 25, N25, 55, 77, 78, 79 have also been announced.
