Events are being planned to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.
Burgess Hill Town Council is organising the lighting of a beacon, a picnic in St John’s Park and a parade led by Burgess Hill Marching Youth.
Janice Henwood, town mayor, said: “We look forward to bringing the community together to provide an opportunity to remember this historic event.
“This picnic has both the informal element and also moves into the more solemn as we remember those who fought, those who lost their lives, those damaged by the war.
“By involving community representatives, we have gathered views and ideas to deliver what we hope will be an appropriate way to commemorate this historic event.”
Entertainment will include performances by dancers and several musicians.
This event will be from 6pm to 9.15pm and people are encouraged to attend in clothing of the wartime era.
