The Marlipins Museum has reopened for the season with a new exhibition to celebrate D-Day's 80th anniversary.
The Shoreham museum is showcasing the town's involvement in D-Day and their military past over the last 100 years with an exhibition created by charity Friends of Shoreham Fort.
The exhibition, named Shoreham Fort Incorporating Shoreham’s Role in D-Day, presents photographs from the area during the Second World War.
This is not the only celebration of Shoreham’s involvement in the pivotal day, as the town will also be lighting a beacon on June 6, also led by Friends of Shoreham Fort.
Greg Talbot, general manager at Sussex Past archaeological society, which runs the museum, said: “We are delighted to host this exhibition, as part of our re-opening programme. It is our collective responsibility to care for our county’s history and heritage and Marlipins is a shining example of a community of people who work to support this goal. We look forward to welcoming members of the public over the Summer months to this very special building.”
The D-Day exhibition will run until July 27, and the museum is open Thursday to Saturday 11am to 3pm until November 2.
