I've never seen so much energy created and expended by bands at the Prince Albert.
Lovvers' loose, riotous DC hardcore-influenced punk was first up. Their energy was barely contained within their short, shambolic songs.
Frontman Shaun Hencher continually threw himself from the tiny stage into the crowd as their ruthless tunes were forced at every seam.
If Lovvers' songs were short, each was an opus compared with those of The Death Set, whose debut album crams 18 tunes into 25 minutes.
Between songs, there were backing tracks of hip-hop, drum 'n' bass and electro before TDS stormed back with another pop-punk hook.
They were ludicrous, relentless and impossible to define. I am still in awe of their extravagant performance.
