I took my little girl to the doctor’s with a cough. Just before he put his stethoscope on her, I warned my daughter: “This is going to be very, very cold.” She promptly burst into tears. The GP responded by getting very angry with me but I couldn’t understand why.
Sorry to hear about this. I expect he was cross because you made your daughter cry unnecessarily. For some reason, many Sussex parents are convinced stethoscopes are freezing cold and alarm their toddlers by telling them so.
Most modern stethoscopes aren’t chilly at all.
