A police car burst into flames at the side of the road.
The blaze started along the A27 at Polegate at 7.30pm this evening.
Two officers were in the car when it broke down at the side of the road but were thankfully out of the vehicle when it caught fire.
Firefighters from Hailsham were called and used foam to douse the flames.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
No one was injured.
