Mystery surrounds six bright lights floating above Brighton early today.

Resident Bill Clements emailed The Argus explaining what he saw.

He said: "About 12.30am on Sunday, I was looking at the sky from my back garden.

"I watched six bright yellowy-orange lights travel across the sky from South West to North East, over Brighton.

"They weren’t plane lights and there were no flashing navigation lights."

The latest report is the latest in a long line of strange glowing objects that have been seen in the skies over Sussex.

On July 26 similar sightings of bright lights in the sky were reported in the west of the county although they were later discovered to be nothing more than Chinese lanterns released at a garden party in Goring, Worthing.

Did you see the lights in the sky on Saturday night or Sunday morning? Do you know what the lights were? Send your images to pictures@theargus.co.uk.

cycling home along the seafront from a party a couple of Saturdays ago I witnessed a group of people on the beach lighting and releasing large candle-powered chinese lanterns - they are generally orange, they flicker and usually travel in the direction of the wind!

Reckon someone had set fire to Messrs Knight,Adams and Hart and let the hot air they are all full of propel them away from Withdean.

It will be there for 3 days.
It is coming in peace.
Fingers crossed the USAF don't try and blow it out of the sky.
