I've seen Johnny Flynn before, when he supported the Ukes Of Hazzard earlier this year. His performance had been arresting and I was eager to hear more.

This time, accompanied by his band, The Sussex Wit, he was less folksy, more bluesy but the voice was still there. To say his voice has a maturity beyond his years doesn't begin to describe it. It is stirring, sometimes haunting and melancholy; the voice of a man who has seen it all.

Johnny's fresh-faced good looks and personality don't quite live up to his voice. Still, time - and fame - should rectify that. Until then, shut up and sing, Johnny.
