Criticised by some for being unoriginal, The View were superb live.

There are plenty of bands out there who aren’t exactly ground-breaking, this Dundee-based foursome included.

There are so many obvious influences in their music (the Libertines and the Ordinary Boys, to name just two) that at times it feels as though you could be listening to any number of contemporary bands.

But that does not necessarily mean The View should be instantly written off, because they are still perfectly capable of putting on a fantastic show.

The lads have plenty of catchy, radio-friendly pop nuggets, including Comin’ Down and Don’t Tell Me.

There was also a hint of things to come, with the unveiling of several new tunes which are set to grace their forthcoming album.

It is almost inevitable that The View will fade from popularity within months and be overtaken by the next similar sounding group.

But for now at least they are hugely entertaining, in a simple kind of way.
