Roedean School has been given a facelift. The school's 1898 building, which was once dubbed Colditz-on-Sea by some of its students, now has a softer buttermilk and honey image after being restored to its original colour in a limewash makeover.
Roedean headmistress Frances King said: "The men who took charge of the project did a fantastic job, working through wind and rain to complete the task.
"I have been delighted with the response from the public to our limewashing.
"I have been told by sailors that when out at sea the school stands out in a very attractive manner, matching the tone of the chalk cliffs.
"Everyone has agreed that the change in the colour of our facade has worked wonders in making the building look more friendly and inviting to all."
Staff hope to encourage more residents to visit the site by holding concerts and open visits during school holidays.
