Visitors will be taking a step in the right direction if a scheme of new signs gets the go-ahead.
The project by Brighton and Hove City Council would transform walking routes, directing tourists to key attractions and helping them explore some of the city s less well known attractions.
The new system, which will be considered at the council' s environment cabinet meeting today, will include smaller signs along key pedestrian routes and mapboards at points where pedestrians are likely to stop.
The project is the first phase of the council's pedestrian signing strategy.
David Smith, the council's cabinet member for culture, recreation and tourism, said: "Brighton city centre behind the main streets can be a maze of narrow lanes and it is essential visitors can find the key tourist attractions easily, without feeling unsafe or lost."
If councillors vote in favour of the scheme, work will begin on it in spring.
