Sadness was etched on the faces of those who gathered to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
A ceremony was held at the Holocaust tree of life in Beach House Park, Worthing.
People attended to mourn the tragic death of millions of people in genocides around the world.
It was held yesterday(Tuesday) to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp at Auschwitz.
Worthing mayor Christine Brown said: "The tragedies of Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur show that the international community and each of use as citizens has not really understood the lessons from the Holocaust."
