Well it's been a hell of week to be a Borough fan. It seems now that the games against former League clubs are coming thick and fast and we seem to have no respect for the "Big Clubs" that visit Sussex. The Torquay blitz was well documented and here we were with another ex-League club at the Lane. York City. I will say it again, York City.

No-one involved at The Sports could have imagined that we would be here mixing it with the likes of one of Yorkshire's senior clubs but indeed we are and doing more than making up the numbers. Another bumper crowd of 1,600-plus witnessed the boys in red once again take all three points and to be honest, we weren't really troubled. Ashley Barnes hit his fifth for us in what turned out to be his last showing in a red shirt, as parent club Plymouth re-called him to appear in their senior squad. Many thanks go to Ash and the new found confidence that his stay has given the others, and we all wish him well in his progress.

The York fans did come down in a good show of numbers. A special mention has to go the "York Ultras". Not what you would call a "firm", in fact they appeared so young that it was more a case of "Pampers Ultras". With a 2-1 victory, the Priory Lane faithful left smiling at what they had witnessed. If that made them smile, then by 9.45 Tuesday night we were positively beaming.

A short hop into stockbroker Surrey saw some 150 or more Borough fans congregate at Woking (some fans on a coach were even treated to a tour of Guildford!). With no Mr Barnes upfront as a target man, it fell to Andy Atkin to resume his task as goal scorer. His last league goal was back in September and there was a point to prove. Oh how well Andy proved himself, and I wish I had taken a bet on him hitting three before half time. All good quality headers from quality crosses, and Dan Smith and Matty Crabb pairing up to deliver lethal pinpoint service.

We quite simply played some divine football that night and over and over again ripped through the stationary Woking defence. The chants were too obvious. "Are you Lewes in disguise?" "Can we play you every week?" but best of all was the "we thought you had gone" when the home fans briefly made a noise! Danny Smith crowned a great personal display with a sublime left footer to make it 4-0. We sit tenth in the league and with Oxford and Crawley still to be deducted points for misbehaving we could rise even higher. Oxygen masks will be needed as we reach dizzy heights never visited before!

Now they always say you shouldn't believe what you read in the papers but surely a live radio interview cannot contain anything deceptive? If anyone missed SCR live web commentary, rumour has it that their intrepid reporter not only missed the first half through car problems but when talking to Garry after the match was heard to say "I missed the first half goals but for the purpose of the interview I will pretend I saw them" I can just imagine the look on Garry's face! It wouldn't be fair to name the poor chap, would it Andrew (Raeburn) As I sit here typing this nonsense the internet is a blaze with transfer news. We seem to have been making more transfer swoops than SK can manage at NVFC, and that takes some doing. Mansfield Town next, some other club with a kind of history so I am told. No worries there then, bearing in mind that only last Saturday they visited Sussex and managed to score just one versus The Panners. Keep it real, keep it Boro!
