Keen golfer Barry Giles is biting fit after becoming the first person in the world to have his face rebuilt with a new jaw and teeth.
Mr Giles, 71, a retired businessman, has had half his jaw replaced with bone, muscle and skin from his shoulder.
The 15-hour operation included installing a replacement set of teeth.
Instead of complaining about the pain when he woke up Mr Giles, from Middleton, near Bognor, told surgeons: “My bite doesn't feel quite right.”
The operation was carried out by one of Britain's leading face surgeons and a pioneering dentist working together.
The private operation, which was reported in this month's British Dental Journal, was such a success it has since been repeated on six National Health Service patients.
