Last week the Krater Club at Komedia was excellent- there was a great line up, it’s rare to get a night where all the acts are good, which not only happened but with each of the acts had very different styles.

First up was Will Smith (not THE Will Smith), who had the persona of a posh public schoolboy and we thought he could not be followed. But next up was Craig Campbell with the type of humour that's so wrong but so funny - at one point I did have to look away and I will never look at a teddy bear in the same way again!

Last up was Carey Marx (sorry if I have got the name wrong - I had a bottle of wine in me at this point!) who was great as he was quick of the mark with a set that didn't seem planned but was tailored around the audience. The night left me with my cheeks aching, which was what I was hoping!

So this week, seems to have a circus style theme running through it - initially drawn in by the mention of cake, I have been learning about Carnivalesque. Carnivalesque is a night inspired by sights and sounds of carnivals throughout the world. You'll find it on the last Friday of every month at the Brighton Coalition. This Friday, Soothsayers are headlining, offering nu-afro beat and Dub, they sound very interesting. It's worth noting that if you dress to impress in loud colours and everything carnival, you'll get a discounted entry. I'm there for the mentions of cake alone!

Going back to Komedia may be the plan on Saturday - not for comedy this time but for their club night, Night of the Vambo - which is a mix of music and cabaret, with an alternative twist.

I've been told to expect tramps in tiaras, caged hobo go go girls and a meat raffle!! Komedia has such varied great nights like this and so I was happy to hear earlier this week that it’s been saved from the credit crunch death for the time being.

If I manage to get up early enough on Sunday, I might try and get to the farmers market on George Street on the Sunday – I keep seeing the signs and meaning to go, but haven't heard many people talking about it. Would be good to hear any reviews you have of it so I know if it's worth missing a lie in for?

So over to you again what are you up to? Of the big names, I know Lemar is stopping by the Brighton Centre - is anyone excited to see him, or have you already made other plans?
